Iron Mountain is located in Unicoi
County, Tennessee, just outside of Erwin and only 10 miles from Johnson
City. Iron tops out at 3715 feet and while it is the smallest
mountain profiled on this site it is unique in its own right,
challenging, and fun to climb.
This climb's route begins in Erwin's Fishery Park and meanders along
the valley bed and into Limestone Cove. As you ride past the
Limestone Cove Recreation Area and through the cove itself you are
gently gaining elevation, and as you approach the mountain and enter
the
Cherokee National Forest the sounds and smells of the mountain air fuel
you to the top.
