Whether you are traveling alone or bringing the whole family, there is
plenty to enjoy in this quiet little area of east
Tennessee.
Options in the area for the whole family include the Dogwood Springs Ranch
where things like guided horse trail rides in the mountains, pony rides
or
hayrides can be enjoyed. Or, you can take the family to Watauga Lake -
created by the Tennessee Valley Authority and also ranked as the third
cleanest lakes in the U.S. A seasonal option would be to enjoy
the National
Story Telling Festival, an annual event held the first weekend in
October in Jonesborough, Tennessee where story tellers
from around the world gather to delight
their
audiences. Aside
from the story telling, you may just want to visit Jonesborough since it is
the "oldest town
in Tennessee".
If you enjoy NASCAR or racing in general then the Bristol Motor Speedway
is a must see. At the speedway, located in nearby Bristol,
Tennessee, you can enjoy a tour of the track and the dragstrip, visit
the gift shop or view the many racing artifacts on display in their
newly built museum.
