These photos will provide a glimpse into the
unique aspects of climbing Mount Mitchell - the highest mountain east
of the Mississippi River. The ride begins with an easy ascent
past
Lake Tahoma to the foot of Eyebrow Ridge. The next four miles are
the steepest (6%). Once on the Blue Ridge Parkway, overlooks and
vistas provide breathtaking views as you wind your way to the top.
The climb ends
in the visitor center parking lot (elevation
6578). The actual peak (elevation 6684) is accessible after a
short hike.
